Just Cause 2 Multiplayer To Be Steam Enabled Soon

I have a deep, profound love of Just Cause 2. It's a beautiful game, with a sense of scale like you've never seen (it basically takes place over a continent) and some of the best stupid shit to appear in a game in recent memory, it's an absolute fucking joy just as a single player game!

For one dedicated group of individuals though, they thought there was potential for more to be milked from the game, if only it weren't single player! But the developer had already finished the game and had no intention of adding in any kind of multiplayer mode, so they set about adding multiplayer to the game themselves. It's taken them a while (understandably!) But they're super close to finishing off the mod, even getting permission to make it readily available on Steam! All they need is one final, massive stress test, and so they're having a week long beta starting on December 7th.

If you've played Just Cause 2 before then you're probably already salivating at the thought of playing it multiplayer, and if you haven't, the game tends to go for about £2 in the Steam sales so there's NO excuse for not owning it and taking part. Seriously, get it any way you can and experience one of the most fun games ever made... With your mates!

I can't wait! What an amazing Christmas present!

GTA San Andreas Coming to Mobiles Next Month

That headline pretty much sums it up, to be honest! You'll be able to get it on Android, iOS, Kindles and "Windows mobile devices" though no word on pricing yet. Supposedly the game will be improved from the PS2 version, with better checkpoints and even remastered visuals (including enhanced character models, dynamic shadows and greater draw distances)! Controllers will be supported at launch aswell, all of which combined are going make my bathroom breaks through December extremely lengthy...

Too much information?

SUPER curious how those "remastered visuals" are gonna look. Give it to me now!

'How The Saints Saved Christmas' Dated For December 11th

If there's one series that SHOULD have the best DLC but always seems to fall short, it's the Saints Row series. You would think that adding in extra crazy shit into those games would be the easiest thing in the world, but it's fair to say that Deep Silver keep missing a trick with their downloadable content.

That's all set to change in a few weeks when Saints Row 4 adds their Christmas DLC "How the Saints Saved Christmas" which will include not only new missions, but also a ridable flying reindeer, Santa's sleigh and an updated version of the Dub Step Gun, creatively called the Christmas Dub Step Gun! Amongst other extras ofcourse.

All sounds good and fun to me! It's jingling my bells just thinking about playing it!

And Die Hard references?! Be still my beating heart!

First Non-Valve 'Steam Machine' Prototype Revealed

iBuyPower are the first company to release images of their Steam Machine prototype. Speaking to Engadget, the company revealed will be making their own design, which will include the Steam OS and come bundled with Valve's official Steam Controller. They have 2 versions in development (gleefully code named Gordon and Freeman) though they both look identical, the only difference being the colour of the light bar surrounding the pseudo-console.

Reports suggest that one of the prototypes contains multi-core AMD CPU, AMD Radeon R9 270 graphics card and be bundled with one of Valve's Steam Controllers for $499. It's unclear whether the other prototype will be similarly equipped or will be some form of entry level or even premium version with better, or indeed, more humble specifications. Expect them to launch next year, with no doubt more details to come on Steam boxes in the near future.

Looks like a cucumber sandwich. So refined. So civilised.

Microsoft's Phil Spencer Says Xbox One's Future Lineup is "Incredible"

With the Xbox One launching worldwide today(!) early adopters of the platform will surely be looking for reassurance that their money will be well spent. Cue Phil Spencer's interview over at Polygon which will, hopefully, help Xbox One day one purchasers feel pretty good about their £400+ investment:

I'm spending all of my time now playing games that are 2014 titles!

I was in Europe last week visiting Lionhead, I was at Rare, PressPlay up in Copenhagen talking about and playing things that are going to come out in the next year, maybe a little later. The depth of the portfolio next year is pretty incredible.

I think back to the Xbox 360 launch, I don't think we really had those mega franchises that were landing in winter to spring that we're seeing out of third parties in that same timeframe for Xbox One. Rolling into the next holiday, we haven't announced everything that's coming yet, but that lineup from first party also looks strong.

I don't mind saying that on 360, I think we had a gap. We had our launch lineup... and a couple Japanese games, but in that first half of the following year, we were a little dry from a first-party standpoint. But I look at the next 18 to 24 months, and really on a month-by-month basis, you're going to have something you can go out and play.

I think people are going to be happy with the lineup that's coming. And I haven't even mentioned when Halo is coming or some of the big mega franchises!

It's hard to tell whether this is just posturing or genuine, and it's easy to be cynical and say he's probably just lying to help the Xbox One cause, but he did tease some exciting announcements at the Spike Video Game awards in a few weeks, so either way we'll find out soon.

Phil Spencer's a nice guy... Though he does look like he could destroy you with a single punch!

'Fallout 4' Trademarked By Bethesda In Europe

A listing has been found on the European Union trademark website for anything bearing the name 'Fallout 4'. The filing occurred mere days before a rumoured Fallout 4 teaser sight came online. The site, titled The Survivor 2299 bears a symbol very reminiscent of ones found in previous Fallout games, a morse code-esque beeping and a countdown clock.

We already know that the next Fallout game will take place in Boston but now we have confirmation that we'll DEFINITELY be VATs'ing a stupid super mutant in its stupid face before too long. Good times!

I miss killing Super Mutants. Gimme that new Fallout right now!!!

PS4 Tops 1 Million Sales in 24 Hours

The PS4 launched on friday in the US and Canada, 2 weeks ahead of us poor buggers here in Europe, and was rather successful! It took the PS4 less than 24 hours to sell 1 million units in the US and Canada, as triumphantly announced by Sony, who are rightfully pretty happy with that figure. They go on to say that sales "remain very strong" and while it might take a few days before we know the full extent of the console's sales figures, things are looking good over at Sony!

The PS4 comes out in 10 days in Europe, while the Xbox One will be out worldwide this Friday.

I actually think the dashboard looks alright. Unrelated to anything, but I thought I'd mention it!

Xbox Live Gold's Free Games Promotion Extending To Xbox One In 2014

Earlier this year at E3 Microsoft revealed that they would be offering a service whereby any Xbox Live Gold members would be getting a free game every 2 weeks. Since then, Xbox Live Gold members have claimed such games as Halo 3, Assassin's Creed 2 and, umm, A Kingdom For Keflings...

Well Microsoft revealed last night (just in time for the North American launch of the PS4) that the promotion would also be extending to Xbox One and that more will be revealed in 2014. This is a classic example of competition being better for the consumer: Microsoft have users pay for their service, Sony feel obligated to offer their own paid-for service; Sony offer free games to entice users to use their optional pay-for service, Microsoft feel obligated to also offer their customers free games. This is better for everyone, especially adopters of a new console looking for quality games right out of the box, games such as...

It's easy to use A Kingdom For Keflings as a humourous example. Very easy.

IGN Reports About Some Users Getting Early, Broken PS4s

Not an ideal story to wake up to, especially if you've pre-ordered a PS4 for yourself, but this morning you'll probably be reading about how some early consoles are having some rather crippling technical issues.

The story was brought into the limelight when a winner of a contest begun posting on Reddit about how his prize of a pre-launch PS4 was not, how do you say... 'working'. After numerous calls to Sony Playstation support the only option he was given was to send the console back to them for repair, given an estimate of 5-6 days for either his console back, or a replacement. Considering that part of the prize was to have the console before everybody else, 5-6 days would be after the console's launch, rendering that part of the prize rather moot, a small price to pay though, for a free PS4 (I'm sure you'll agree).

Where the story really begins to gain traction though is when IGN admitted that their own pre-release console also suffered crippling issues rendering their own Sony-supplied console useless. They were given a new one by Sony almost immediately but still, there will be plenty of Playstation fans twiddling their thumbs nervously, waiting for Sony to send out a press release telling them everything will be okay, but until then, there will be a lot of PS4 buyers VERY clenched today!

Here's the full story from IGN - Broken Playstation 4 Systems
